I know this may be a crazy question, but, I have a 67 Chevelle that had quarters put on it 25 years ago. The problem is that the restorer did not replace the rear inner wheel wells that have some rust through problems (holes). Is it possible to replace rear inner wheel wells without removing the quarters if the body is on a rotisserie? Thanks

difficult, but I would think not impossible if you have good welding skills.

replacing them in two pieces is probably not doable. If you cut them completely out, I would think the inner would go in pretty easily, then the outer you might have to cut into two or more pieces.

Or maybe, the outer would go in in one piece and the inner would maybe be easier to get in than if you did the outer second.

I'm just thinking out loud here.

I'll bet once you got the old ones out, you could figure out how to do it. IIRC without looking at mine I think the only real obstacle to sliding them right in from teh bottom is the lip on the quarter.

I have a 65 that is an old drag car that we aare working on. It is going to remain an old drag car. It needed new qtrs on it and before I got the car, someone attempted to replace the right rear qtr. When they replaced it,they cut out the entire wheel well and inner structure below the right rear window.
They then mounted the rear qtr panel and welded it in-not very good but it is on the car. We can repair some of the mistakes they made but not sure what to do about the wheel well. We talked about removing the left rear wheel well and making small tubs and we talked about getting inner and outer wheel wells from NPD. Either way we go,we will have to add metal back to where you would mount the rear window regulator as they cut that all out.
I am leaning towards getting the replacement panels from NPD and getting the body back to somewhat stock. The trunk was cut out and replaced with aluminum with spot ofr small fuel cell and battery. We also will need to mount an 8 point roll cage into the car. There will be no back seat-just a sheet metal across the back. This is the way it has been since at least the 70's. Here is a pic-not very good but you can see what they cut out and what needs to be replaced. What way would you go-repro inner and outers or remove left inner and outer and go with home built tubs?
