The rtv can ease its way out over time with heat stress pressure. I would use liquid teflon or teflon tape.

I've been using RTV on pipe plugs and freeze plugs since it first came out, what's supposed to be wrong with it? I don't think there's any oil or water pressure in an automotive engine that can push cured RTV out of tapered pipe threads. I don't think 10 (ten) times the pressures seen in our engines would hurt that stuff.

ok guys, i got some good thread sealer. now, how do i know how tight to get them? do i need to make them flush with the block? im using a rachet with an allen head socket, so i have enough leverage.

thanks guys

Yeah, pipe plugs use tapered threads. I just use teflon tape. Make sure to wrap it in the right direction, if you don't, it will just unwind itself when you thread it together. Then, after it's together, I peel all visible tape back off, makes for a very nice and clean setup! :D
