It's a 1988 model unit, so probably from a 3/4-1 ton truck. Possibly a van.

Don't take it to the dump...

Give it to a needy car enthusiast. If the case is good, the core is worth $50-150.

The Chevy cases are getting harder to find.

If the trans output shaft is drilled/tapped it is from a vehicle with a two piece drive shaft (drive shaft w/hanger bearing) with a bolted on yoke. The ones I've seen like this also have a deeper pan.

I've read that some people use them with a slip yoke but I'm not sure that's a good idea.

If the trans output shaft is drilled and tapped it is from a vehicle with a two piece drive shaft (drive shaft w/hanger bearing). From what I've read, this type of output shaft isn't the best for high hp cars because the yoke doesn't slide on the output shaft as far. I'm pretty sure the rest of the trans is OK.
Thanks guys', I'll give it to someone if they need it. Mike
