I dont know how you drive your 427, yet with 4.10s I;d be letting her see 7000 frequently. THEREFORE I would get with Chris if only for the proper valvetrain setup to RPM well.
EG on the flip side, Comp's cast core rollers require wimpy ass springs and cant much pull past 55-5800 well. That's cutting the guts out of 427 IMHO. Beehives, Ti retainers, and LET HER BREATHE!
I would NOT use the "stock" Clay Smith BBC HR cam with 227/240. Wont pull past 6000.
Used one of Harold's Brookshire's short track cams, still available from Bullet. 276/284, 243/252, 152/160, 5,95/.605 lift on a 110 LSA. held 11-12" Hg at idle and made GREAT power with HP peak at 6850 or so in 433".
Harold had me well advance that cam, it it really helped the rect port heads ( 074 alloys) pick u[p velocity. She still RPM'd well with 7 degrees of advance in the cam. Says it is still a BIG cam for that 427!
