Whether you have a .300 lobe or a .450 lobe the lifter will be at the same height in the block as I have never seen a rod hit the nose of a cam yet.

It really depends what rods you are using. If your not using a stroker rods you may have to use a reduced base circle cam.

proper install of 1.7 rockers on a SBC involves moving the rocker studs and other mods. Not for the faint of heart. Do you own a machine shop?

Every build will have a different amount of clearance ,or lack of ...example , built a few 406 engines with 5.7 stock rods that hit the cam , just built a 436 with compstar h beams , and a .875 base circle with .675 lift and it had .017 clearance ( not enough had to grind 4 rods ) ...Just mock it up and find out !

My 377 is running the Comp Cams XR282HR-10 roller cam. With 1.5 rockers it is .510 lift intake, .520 lift exhaust. I am running 1.6 rockers with no problems at all - it ends up at .544 lift intake and .555 lift exhaust.
