Ok experts, I need help with a paint code for a medium bronze interior. I have read most of the post on this, but what paint to use on the interior has me stumped. Years past the lacquers were used and will not help me now. What modern interior paint codes are out there for Aztec bronze? Is one more correct than another? Would you use a different paint for the dash top or same paint with a flattener? Any help is greatly appreciated. Almost done!!!

That should be a stunning interior when finished. Any jobber should be able to set you up with a good base if you just give them the "mm" code.

That's what I thought but I went to two different paint houses and my body shop. None could match the dash which is orginal. They used a camera but it could not come up with a good code. Even the body shop paint supplier (Standox) could not get it right. The interior dye will be handled by my interior guy. Why is it so hard to get the interior correct

If it was my car, I wouldn't touch lacquer. It's an inferior paint and even more so that there's no lead in it anymore. I just did my '66 interior in artesian turquoise using ppg deltron and just dulled the clear down to semi-flat for the top of dash. I also dulled the rest of the interior to roughly a semi-gloss. Then I polished the top of the doors back to gloss. This is my preferred method as it gives the shine like original but not a ton of depth. That's the way I remember the old lacquer. You have to remember Fisher body used the baker to flow the lacquer and give it the depth it was known for. My opinion is they never flowed the dash drop-out...just left it "as shot". That's why an original will show graininess and slightly less shine then the rest of interior.
Thanks for the responses. I'll try a PPG distributor. I'm guessing/hoping they will have a cross reference. I was hoping for a modern paint code that I can do a spray out to match.

Been there ...... assume you talking about the lower dash as the top is not bronze but a SG maroon shade same as kick panels Hinshaws used sell a spray can match ....... the lower dash and interior door tops was a M code lacquer but not rubbed out so looks dull as Jerry said ....... if you going BCCC then you use same code as the MM exterior just a flattener in the clear ....FYI some Farmington built bronze interior cars had red kick panels and dash top and windlace console was the M code but again not high gloss
