a little off topic here but i am thinking all should be the same, i was working on my 1973 chevy C20 pick up with the 454 and was changing the water pump and went to get the hose for the by pass (from the water pump to the intake) and they are telling me to use bulk hose, well i have tried to make up about 4 of them, and every time they kink up, the original had a kink as well, is this the norm?-
i have tried even the chevy dealer as well as all the local parts houses- NAPA O'really  and no luck, i ordered one for the short pump style and that did not work as well--

These are 3/4" bypass hoses with a molded 45* angle in it (trim to fit)...

It's because the geometry is incorrect. The water pump fitting comes out at 45 degrees and actually points at a spot BELOW the fitting on the intake. That means you will always get a kink in the hose unless you can find some fancy molded hose.
