These guys are smoking crack. They have it listed on eBay as well. I built this car and it was never a SS396 car, I made it how I wanted it but had to sell it due to a divorce. I am not sure how they got it but it is not honestly presented. The horsepower claims are bogus, I called them to let them know it was never a SS396 car and the guy got all pissy. It's no where near worth what they are asking...I sold it for $25,000 to the guy they bought it from.

Thanks for the heads-up! There are scammers everywhere, I must piss you off so see someone trying to pull a scam with a car you built. Too bad there isnt a way to warn other potential buyers, not just the ones on this site.

I hope that anyone spending almost $40K for a car does a little homework...maybe even ask people here on TC what they think. I hate that my old car is being sold by a shameless dealer...

I sent the following email question.
We'll see how he responds.

"Hey,

Have you got the original build sheet and POP card for the 70 SS "clone"?

I know the guy that owned and built that car.
Very nice car with lots of modern upgrades.
No doubt about that.

But........it was never an SS car.
You should either remove that documentation from the listing or state that you do in fact have the "original" build sheet and/or POP card."

Could you contact the fort meyers better business bureau? I guess you could email him and tell you're going to if he doesnt change the ad, or tell him you'll look up the new owner by VIN and inform them of the fraud and hand them the email you sent the seller and thus the case on a silver platter.

How do you know it wasn't a SS car? Did you have the build sheet? Did you convert everything to clone it? Just curious?

Protect-o-Plate / Warrantee card.

This was issued by the selling dealer to the first buyer, and included info on the car that would be used every time it went in for service.
I know all about the Protect-O-Plate Ben, I just never heard anyone call it a "POP card" before.

No matter what, the car is beautiful! They just don't want to cheapen the image by calling it a clone. To say that it was originally an SS396 is just hearsay, anybody looking at the car should ask them to prove it. They can't.
