Well I just sold my chevelle today, and I am now hunting for a camaro. I'm seriously considering 68 that I can buy rolling, its set up for a BB. I have access to a reasonably priced, good running 454 but I know the motor is a 72 - low compression.

What can be done to get this smog motor to make some decent power (450 hp + at crank) without changing pistons. Will there be enough compression to work with ? The car has 4.11's now but I would likley bring that down to 3.42 or 3.55.

Closed chamber heads and a 230-240 @ .050 cam ground on a 110 LSA will wake that 454 up in a big way.

Yes, closed chambered large oval port heads along w/ .020" thick shim headgaskets and say a 268 to 272 or so solid lifter cam and 3.55's and it will border on being explosive in a low compressioned motor, imho..

It just won't keep making power higher up is all tho...........
