Hey,
I got a 70 Malibu from the father in-law. Its been in nice garage for 13 years 350 motor runs good. Just starting to get it into shape.
My question is with seats. f-in-law took out the bench seat 20 years ago(threw it away) and replaced it with buckets from a 76 Monte. I am 6-4 and my head is crunched into the headliner. I have found an original bench in FL. am going there to pick up while on vaca in three weeks. Here is the kicker. I saw an add on Craigslist for a set of Buckets for a 69 chevelle for 350$. looked at pics on internet for Chevelle buckets and they looked the same. After i got them home i realized that the inner brackets are 3 inches lower than the outer set. It would appear that this is to mount on the tranny bump. But as you know, and now i do, Chevelle seats dont mount there. Does anyone have any idea what car these could possibly be from. the adjusters are in the side and they dont have a release button to tilt seat forward. Any ideas. i would like to sell these and get the bench.
Thanks Eric

You would need to post pictures of the seats to have any chance of identifying them.

They look like mid 60's GM buckets, but my guess is the tracks are what has been modified/wrong application..
"69 Chevelle buckets all had headrests, I am pretty sure.

Look like 66 Grand Prix Pontiac looking at the mounts. Just change to mounts to chevelle unless you are looking correct with the button to release the seat back.

Thanks guys, I think they are from a 68 camaro. They had the big transmission bump.
Nope- not camaro.
I can't identify the covers, the others may be right about the Grand Prix pattern- but the seat itself is a 1966 GM bucket seat- which was interchangeable between A-body's and B-body's (camaros used a smaller seat)

Those outboard tracks are from a B-body- the inboard tracks are ?? who knows. Someone did something funky for a special application most likely.

The good news is, the tracks unbolt- So find yourself a set of A-body seat tracks (or buy a set of new reproduction ones) and you'll be ready to bolt the seats right into your car.

1969 Chevelle reproduction covers & foam will fit those seats just fine. So except for the back locking mechanism and sides being metal instaead of plastic, you'll be good to go!
