I would change it to the GM Melonized gear.
You will have to have it honed to .500
If you have trouble finding someone to hone it locally I keep the GM gear in stock & can hone it for you, I do a lot of them ;)

FWIW, I have a solid roller Lunati cam in my engine, but I don't think that it has the "everwear" gear on it since it was manufactured before they came out with their "Voodoo" cam line. I called Lunati twice about this cam, and I got two different answers concerning whether or not it has an ever wear gear. So what I did, is I purchased one of Comp Cams composite gears which they said over the phone is compatible with "any camshaft on the planet" and it's supposed to last a lot longer than a bronze gear will. So that's another option that you can consider.

yea im very confused now. I thought the Ever Wear gear option meant that a regular like all camshafts cast gear is pressed or affixed in whatever manner to the Billet core of the Voodoo camshaft, which would allow you to run stock cast distributor gears?? I too installed the stock MSD Cast gear into my engine with a Voodoo 60234.

Why does everyone have to reinvent the wheel. I mean damn all these different gear choices to accomplish 1 thing. Why cant it be billet run this cast run this boom done.

Everyone has to get their marketing gimmick or angle in.

Yes, it does get confusing, and also frustrating when you start getting 3 or 4 different conflicting answers from various "tech" people at aftermarket companies. That's why I bought the Comp Cams composite distributor gear. When they told me that it's compatible with all camshafts, then I kinda figured that it would cover all the bases regardless of which theory that I was being told was correct, and which wasn't.

I will run mine a bit more and pull it to check the wear pattern. Let me know how that gear works out. Is the 632 beast master running yet?

Billy, you have a dry sump? There are reputable people here mentioning problems with the plastic gear running an oil pump.

Gee Tom, I wasn't aware of that. And there's no dry sump system on my engine. So in light of what you've stated, maybe I should stick with the bronze gear, and make a .030" deep oil groove in the distributor housing. Some people claim that their bronze gears have lasted a long time once they've done that. Thankyou for looking out for me pal.

the MSD gear would work as well....I am running the one that came with my distributor (pro billet.)
Yanniz,

Do a search on here, I think you will find some different results from some of the folks running the MSD's with the supplied gear. I bought a GM one from Mike Lewis, and it looks way different than the one that came with my Pro-Billet.
