Broken piece of dipstick in oil pan

1531 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  boz53bj
Just got my 70 chevelle out for the spring. Went to check the oil and found last inch or so of the dipstick must be in the oil pan. I removed the tube from the block and it's not in the tube. I have a 350, I have been told don't worry about it from a couple of friend who are mechanics, it will lay in the bottom of the pan. Looking for any thoughts out there about this or suggests, short of pulling the oil pan. Thanks.

You could always get a small flexible magnet and go through the drain plug and get it if wanted out.
A piece of mechanics wire with a L bent on end might work also to help get it twards the drain hole.
