I don't usually drive the Chevelle at night but I was out tonight and when I left a stop light all the lights got real bright the gauge read about 15 to 20+ it ran like that for about 4 miles then dropped back down to about the 0 line where it usually runs at it has the original voltage regulator you think it's the regulator? the alt. was replaced when I rebuult the engine 700 miles ago any ideas? Sounds like the regulator. Make sure the base of the regulator is grounded. If it is you may want to replace it now before it does that again since that high a voltage is hard on any electroncs, the lights and the battery. The Wells VR715 (I think) is an electronic regulator that's better than the mechanical ones.
