How precise does the boss removal need to be ??? I am trying to be as frugal as possible. Could I use a hacksaw to remove most of it, then just use an angle grider to take off the remainder, so the caliper bracket will fit properly ?? Thanks in advance

I suspect so. A canted caliper would only wear the pads unevenly. I'd be tempted to final file 'em with a big flat bastard. Ha!!!
