This might be obvious, but it could be the bulb. The bulb has two elements-one for the tail light, one for the brake light. Maybe, one element is burned out. It's easy to see by looking at the bulb.
Brake lights
I have '67 malibu when the headlights are off the brake lights work.At night when I turn the headlights on the taillights come on and stay on but when I press the brake the brake lights never come on. I haven't had a chance to dig into it yet I was just wondering if anyone might have seen anything like this before and might steer me in the right direction.
