Has anyone ever used the Borgeson power steering pump shim kit or the Turn One flow restrictor valve in their power steering pump?
I believe these are the two different companies approaches to better matching a PS pump to a box in a early steering box/late steering pump situation. Mainly to combat the twitchy feeling of too much assistance.
Maybe I explained that wrong???
I just received the Borgeson shim kit and was going to use it to shim the valve in my power steering pump down from a spec of 1633-1754 psi to something closer to 1250.
Now I read on their website that Turn One says they recommend reducing GPM not pressure. My pump spec is 1.7 - 2.1 gpm.
To me, and I know nothing about PS or hydraulics for that matter, the gpm of my pump doesn’t sound that high put the psi seems really high.
Does anyone have any real world experience with either?

I had a very informative conversation with Jeff from Turn one today. He stated that the flow restrictor they offer would not help in my situation because my gpm flow is on the low side already. He said it should be in the 3 gpm range.
He also didn’t seem to think that it was the pressure either. He noted that the pressure is only applied while turning.
His opinion was it was something in my suspension setup. I have complete Hotchkis suspension front and rear with Profirged 0.9” taller upper ball joints. Tie rod ends, center link, idle we’re all replaced at the same time. Alignment is right where it should be.
What else could it be?

Are you running a factory 66 steering box or something newer? How many turns lock to lock? I run a 00 s10 box on my ls conversion with a standard corvette type 2 pump and the steering is just about right. I would assume that you need a heavier torsion bar in the gear to take away the twitchiness you are having ,as the factory gears were set up way to light by today's standards.Steering wheel size also changes the rate. A smaller wheel will quicken the rate.Lots of possibilities here.Report back with your findings and will go from there.
