i bought me a 80 z28 camaro t-top with a 4 speed tranny, looking at the case and finding out it is a borg warner tranny what could be said about these tranny's, how strong are they, what ever the case it will have to do i guess because im putting a 396 in front of it..........is there any nicknames for this kinda tranny i should be aware about just so i know if i hear a certian term used i know what they are talking about...............lol

i just dont know anything about these tranny's and i figure this would be a good place to start. i do need some parts and i listed some of what i needed in the ad section. give it a look if you got some 4 speed parts for my kinda car.

We have plenty of good used parts for the BW Super T10. What do you need?

Also, there is Wally who can set you up with new parts.

It's called a super t-10 because there was a much lighter duty t-10 built in the 50s and 60s. If it has the iron main case it is a pretty good trans. If it has the alum case it is about the same as a Munce that isn't worn out.

Please don't think this is a stupid question, but I want to make sure we identify your transmission correctly. Is it a "side loaded trans" with an external shift linkage on the driver's side (rods shifter mount, etc.) or is it an "internal rail" type trans. with the shifter going into the top of the unit in a rectangular cavity on the top of the tailhousing with no external shifting linkage?

Thanks........ODIE

the shifter mounts on the outside of the tranny with its linkage. it has 9 bolts on the IRON case, and it says "borg warner" on top of the tranny.
