In reality how many of you are removing all the body mount bolts without snapping any.

Soaked all of them with PB Blaster several days. Had to drill access hole next to front seat to get to those two. Middle two in trunk were shot anyway, no need to mess with those. Had to cut head off one of the ones next to front seat and the soak and heat after body was off to get it out.

Most of mine came out easy after blasting with penetrating oil for two days. Except one that spun inside its cage under the rear seat (1971). Had to drill a hole to access the cage, then forced a tool between the stripped head and the cage to get nut off. Did the reverse upon reassembly - didn't feel like breaking open the cage and rewelding it. Lazy.

Six years ago I had a Conneticut sold one owner Red L78 Chevelle in my shop. It was a 20 year project for the guy and his freind had hung all NOS sheetmetal on the car around 10 years before and the paint work was outstanding.

My job? Reassemble the car. It was just a body, nothing else. One of the owners requests was body mounts. The body was sagging pretty bad on the right front. So i had the literal disgust of cutting the floor under the lower rear seat as well as the mint trunk pan. I was not happy about doing it. Two years later I went 8 for 8 on my other 70. Those I just cut and dealt with the nuts after I cut the floor out..

Where are those Cali and Maricopa cars at?????

Personally I had better luck with a battery powered impact, mines a Snap On so it's fairly powerful but won't over do it. I don't use breaker bars anymore, they break things, thus the name. Like others said cut some access holes for PB blaster or something similar and let sit for a couple days.

Cali car-San Jose found 71 SS 454 Elco. 25+ years in the garage. Soaked with PB and all came out easily-this was pure luck as I understand it though. Used in-line tube body bolt and mount kit, noticable difference in ride!

Thanks for all the replies. In the past I've taken 2 other cars off the frames a 67 Corvette Coupe with 8 bolts and a 69 Camaro sub frame with only 6 bolts. I didn't have any problems removing the bolts but this body has almost double the bolts and I have read were many were breaking the bolts off.
