I know this subject has been discussed before but the search feature isn't available right now. Has anyone used baking soda to blast an alum intake? I remember hearing sand or glass beads are not good. I want to give mine the fresh "as-cast" look and I won't use paint. Ground up walnut shells are too expensive.

Try plastic media instead. On the soda blaster I saw they used a stripper first to loosen up the paint. From what I remember it didn't etch the metal at all or even polish it.
