I am reconditioning the rear harness from my 70 Chevelle for installation. All wires are accounted for the the exception of a black wire near the main connector.
It has been cut.
I pulled the wiring diagrams from the factory assembly manual. It looks to be a ground wire.
Where did this wire attach to the chassis? What was the method of connection? Any pictures that would help me?

Sounds like a ground but I don't understand "main connector" Is this the connector the rear lamp harness plugs into?

Yes. It is the connector that begins the rear harness and connects to the one that runs front to back.
Do you know where this ground attaches to the chassis on the 70?

Somebody with a 70 should be able to help. I don't have much with me to try and check. On the 71/72 the only ground wire back there ties to the center trunk latch.

As on John's '71, the black ground wire connects to the trunk latch bracket.
