What is the best paint gun for the money?

I'll need one that can prime, base and clear.

I would like to stay below $500 I will only be using it once I hope.

I bought a DeVilbiss Finishline II gun about 6 years ago. It works great for what you are asking of a decent paint gun. I've shot quite a few cars with it and I have used it for primer, color, and clear. IIRC, it cost me about $150 for the kit. It came with a 1.3 tip for color and clear, and a 1.8 tip for primers.

Very satisfied with the Binks MG-1
It's an M1-G. I've had one for over 10 years or more. I use it for sealer or bike jobs now. It has a small pattern compared to newer guns. Decent in it's day and comparible to it's siphon relative BBR. More money than a Finishline but also recommended by other painters is the Devilbiss Plus. What I spray with is over the OP's budget. Iwata offers a good primer gun for $93 if you want a respectably priced, quality dedicated primer gun.

I have the Finishline set also.
I won't attempt to paint the body of my car, I'm letting a pro with plenty of experience do that, but I used my Finishline for the inside of the car, the firewall, the frame, and the underbody, and it worked great.
