So what is the best year Chevelle SS front end. I’m talking from the header panel down. So if you heard a car approaching from a distance and looked up to see it was a Chevelle. I singled out the SS cars as many have a different grill than non SS models.
I have my favorite year Chevelles but my choice for best looking front end is not at the top end of my favorite years overall.

69 Chevelle front end is the most sinister looking front of any car ever, rivaled only by the '55 Chevy (which is equally awesome only after shaving the hood bird and adding a hood scoop)

Nice 66 Leadhead.
Just like I likem.
In their work clothes .
66 has been my favorite since childhood. I finally got my 66SS my senior year of high school in 1988, and I still have it 34 years later, and it's still my favorite.

Looks like your '68 is waiting for laundry to come out of the washer. :)
Personally, I think 69-71 all look great.
The color of the car itself also comes into play, me thinks.

Here's a can of worms to open:

Anyone else feel that from 1964-1967, Pontiac actually had the better looking front end on the A-Bodies for each year?
Followed up by the worst looking A-Body front ends from 68-72?

I somewhat agree, but I'll change the years a bit. 1965-1970, GTO's had better looking front ends. 1964 looked too "grandpa car" and 71-72 GTO front ends are just awful (Tempest / Lemans are much better in those years). Another caveat is that 68 & 69 need to have the exposed headlights, the hidden headlight front ends aren't as good looking.

Just kidding , a Grand Prix was a pretty bad ass car. My favorite GP year was 65 but all were nice. Pontiac did go extravagant with their front ends. The 65 GTO was a killer front end.
