I'm looking at an Echo 440. 44 cc w/18 inch bar. Either that or a Husqvarna. Mainly want it for clearing some woods around my house. Thoughts?

Sthil or Husky, go to a saw shop that sells and services them locally. The guys will set you up and give some training

I have a Stihl MS-310 with a 20" bar. Killer saw!! I believe I paid around $400 including the 20" bar upgrade, plastic hard case, 1 gallon of chain oil, some 2 stroke oil and state taxes. That was a few years ago though. Spend the few extra bucks and get the best! Buy a STIHL!

The 280 is a little down on power. It make 3.6 HP and the MS310 make 4.0 HP.

Another vote for Stihl. My buddy is a tree trimmer and I worked for him as a trade to do some work in my yard. He has about 5 saws ranging in size.

I've had others, and always had problems. I've had my Stihl for 5 years and have not had problem 1. I've used it enough I've worn out about a dozen chains so far. I wouldn't think of anything else..........I bought their leaf blower and weedeater, too, because of the performance. They all have been trouble free.

They sell Husky-350's at Baileys.com for around $300. That saw is hard to beat.

I've gotten the cs440 on ebay for about 230. an excellent saw with never a problem. three years, average 2-3+ cords cut per year.
