for my engine rebuild I will be needing a new cam and lifters. I had the stock hydraulic lifters in the engine. its a stock 65 396 bored .070 over with the original 702 heads and cast iron intake.:beers:

Well since I don't see my self high revving all the time it seems it would be a waist of money

Like Frank said, the primary benefit of solid lifters is the fact that they do not pump up if the valves are floated at high RPM. Hydraulic cams and lifters are available from many performance cam manufacturers that will rev to 7000 RPM with no problems, so there is no advantage in using solid lifters in an application such as yours. Much less maintanance involved with hydraulic lifters.
