BBC vortec heads

I am contemplating on which heads to buy for my next big block build up. Scoggin Dickey has advertised ; Vortec heads bare - (1) pair for $ 839. Are there any specs for these heads anywhere on the web? Chambers are 100cc. Would these be better than say open chamber oval port heads w/ big valves?

Those heads are good, They are 100 cc heart shaped chambers. They are large oval ports, and have no heat riser passage. They came on Gen 6 engines and I would call scoggin dickey and ask if they work on a Mark 4 block
(coolant passsages).

They use a Net lash type rocker assembly. You need to have the heads drilled to accept Mark 4 adjustable Rockers or buy a set of studs with 3/8 ends on them (Competition Products)

The Exhaust port has a D shape to it that allows for a nice short side radius (port floor) This is the drawback to the standard BBC heads IMHO.

If they bolt on a Mark 4, I'd use em in heart beat!

Mark, no that is not the same as a Vortech head. I have that casting number on my gen 6 boat motor, and it is a regular peanut port with small valves. If you ever see a Vortec Head with the intake off, you will know it. It has large oval ports and no heat riser, it looks like a race head. I think it uses the small valves but not sure.
