who has some valves covers that work great that DO NOT cost $300+. I just want some affordable decent quality valve covers for my 496.
What style? Short, tall? Alu?
I have used summit and other cheaper alu covers under 100$ with no problems.

i THINK my pro built MJ467 used Speedmaster tall VCs. No too fancy, and I see them for under $100 @ Summit. No issues although I replaced them with 67 slant backs for authenticity.

I have used multiple sets of cheap cast tall valve covers. Several Summit brand. a set that looks like Ricks, even cheap pro comp without leaks. Even Moroso stamped steel and no leaks. Here are some pictures of the ones I have used. Next build will get a set of oem covers with spacers like the black an orange set on my pictures.

You'll also want to use some decent gaskets, my last 454 had Felpro blue finned rubber with steel embedded reusable gaskets with metal inserts to keep them from getting to squished (wish I'd of puttem on the new engine) new engine has black rubber reusable gaskets and neither leak

Got lucky at swap meets, bought 2 pair of Chevy cast aluminum covers for $20 a pair, they looked alike, both were black wrinkle painted from the factory. One set came off a BBC truck motor and the other set, with drippers, probably came off a GM crate motor. Cleaned them up, recoated them with VHT black wrinkle paint, put the set with the drippers on my MJ 467 and sold the other pair for $50 at a swap meet. Black ribbed covers are not for everyone but they don’leak, may not be able to use with all brands of roller rockers or may have to double gasket to clear on some brands. Pictures of engine on my profile...FWIW
