I've been using the same set of Moroso rubber/steel core valve cover gaskets for over 6 years now. I was checking the lash this afternoon and found signs of leakage. The holes aren't tight around the studs anymore and they are sliding around.
I remember having a set of stock replacement valve cover gaskets from Fel Pro for my Suburbans 454 TBI engine. These gaskets were rubber with a steel core, but also had bushings at the bolt holes to eliminate overtightening and squishing the gaskets out.
Anyone happen to know the part number of the Fel Pro gaskets? What I had was an upper end gasket kit, not the individual gaskets.
Also, I see Earl's offers a similar design gasket, but are more expensive. The Moroso's are $48/pr and the Earl's are $63/pr.
I cannot stand cork gaskets, so don't even mention them. lol.
Any suggestions as an option to the Moroso's which might include a bushing at the bolt hole would be appreciated.
