Putting together 215 closed chamber heads. Tired rocker arm studs are currently 1.75" effective length, plan to replace due to excessive wear. New roller cam lift is.51". Question is... if I plan to use stamped long slot rockers, and standard nuts, do I need to go with a 1.90" effective length, or will 1.75" be sufficient ?? Trying to stay old school and stock dripper valve cover height. Checked ARP studs, but appears they are setup for their Permalock nuts only. Any suggestions on stamped long slots and rocker studs is appreciated...

Since you have the oem mock up with them and see what lenght you need before you order.
There are polylocks for oem stamped steel rockers or double nut if you use ARP.

Effective length or effective stud length... being "B" measurement ...

Ok, Have never heard it called that :) One thing I have noticed that most of the aftermarket studs like ARP do not seem to play well with the stock "crimp" type nuts. I have seen them gall up pretty bad. You would think that the ARP studs would be better but that has been my experience.

Thanks for the replies. My concern was that a long slot with a little higher lift would exceed the stock 1.75" stud length. Appears that the PO used a higher lift cam with stock rockers and F'd up all the studs as shown

PM me if you decide on ARP 2" studs, I have a set too short for my needs and I can't send back, they DO NOT work with crimp nuts

Thanks for the offer, but I have concerns about taller studs hitting the drippers on stock covers. Likewise, the Arps's don't accept crimp nuts, which rules them out. I already ordered a set from Alex's Parts as recommended by SS64. I had never heard of Alex and he carries Elgin parts which appear to be US made and decent quality. Thanks again... (y)
