I got my newly built 496 back this weekend from the engine builder. :hurray:
I started doing some prep work (bell housing alignment) to get it ready to go in and noticed that on the crankshaft flange, I do not have a dowel pin for the flywheel. This is a forged 4340 Scat 4.25" crank. Anybody know where I can find one? Did a search on Summit & Jegs with no luck.

Thanks for your help. :)

Darren,
Is the engine internally balanced, with no weight on the flywheel ? If so, there is no need for the dowel pin, all it does is insure that the flywheel is in the correct position on an externally balanced assembly like a stock 454. Even if you have an external balance assembly, you really do not need the pin as long as you line up the alignment hole in the flywheel.

If you do need, or want a pin, they are available from the dealer. Part number 10046031 about $3

Bill,

It is internal balanced. I did not realize that was the purpose for the dowel pin. Learned something new today. :D

Thanks again.
