just flowed a set of out of the box Brodix Race Rite oval port 270cc head. Here is the data

2.25/1.88 back cut on intake tulip exhaust valve
Throat
Long and Short runner 90%throat
Long and short runner bowl 91%
Short side long runner 2.93Csa
Short side short Runner 3.01CSA
Pinch Long runner 2.72CSA

Those numbers are significantly less than what Brodix claims:

RR BB-O (non CNC)
2.250 Intake: .2=159, .3=223, .4=270, .5=314, .6=334, .7=340
1.880 Exhaust: .2=116, .3=145, .4=172, .5=196, .6=217, .7=236

Welcome to my world. I am use to this from just about every manufacture although the BB-2plus were close to their numbers. Brodix could have flowed it on a bigger bore that usually helps but not that much. I have a 4.625bore I may flow it on it if I find time today.

I know mine are the rect port version, but Brodix's flow numbers between the 270 oval and the 294 rect port heads usually show very close to one another. Listed below is what my CNC chambered 294's flowed untouched, before porting. Mine was flowed on a 4.310" bore.

From my experience talking with local builders, AFR numbers are usually pretty close to what they advertise.

When USA Race Engines checked my AFR 290's they said they were as good as it gets, especially on the exhaust side.

It does a manufacturer no good to publish exaggerated numbers when they know that many top builders WILL check them.

Please keep us posted on what you find. I really appreciated the vortec thread you had on speedtalk as you worked them with differing valve sizes and what port work was showing benefits. These heads deserve a thread like that.

I will try to do a thread like that but I will not be playing with different valve sizes. This is going to stay a 2.25 valve because of the motor it is going on. However I am very busy right now and these heads I will not be getting to right away.

My bench does read lower than most, I actually think it reads accurate but so does everybody else. I am fine with it reading lower than most I would rather under promise and over deliver than over promise and under deliver.

Nice pic, so this is the difference between the cnc and non cnc. Def seems worth the extra buck and to get the chamber size you want. Have talked to Mike about these and for my cubes we are leaning towards the Rectangles but very interested in seeing your results.

Brodix must be flowing the 270's on a 5 inch bore to come up with their advertised numbers. This is disappointing for those running 4.25 - 4.310 sizes, the market these heads seem to target.

I wonder if Edlebrocks advertised numbers for their similar oval port head are any "truer" than Brodix's.

I'm not concerned. These heads have already proved themselves in my book. They will just get better with porting.

I believe their advertising states 4.5xx bore... but everyone that uses them for build says the cnc option is well worth the money. Seems to be the exception to he on a bore that fits the port size.
