I posted this a Team Camaro as well but thought you guys with the heavier Chevelles may be interested in these cams too:

Is anyone here running either of these Lunati BBC SR Cams?
If so I would like your Feed Back.

I'm thinking either would be great with say approx 10:1 Static Compression with a Muncie and either 3:31's or 3:08's Gears. This is not a Strip Ride but a Daily Driver and Road Warrior.

502A1LUN: 2000-6500, 278/290, 244/255 @.050", .630"/.630", 112 LSA

502A3LUN: 2500-6500, 267/284, 245/253 @.050", .660"/.660", 112 LSA - Fast Ramp

NOTE the FAST Ramp from Advertised to the .050" Durations - Sish! - and the Specs look real Torquers. There would be no problem getting a 8.1 DCR in a 4" stroke 454 +.030" with either of them cams. The Exhaust should Bark too - LOL

I kinda like that 502A1LUN Profile for my purpose and can't see running anymore the 200lbs on the seat and 500 open with these cams. I like the 112LSA considering a 4Spd with 3.08 or 3.31's. Wonder if they have the Cast Dizzy Gear?

I think I'll give LUNATI a call about them.

I think as long as you can keep the RPMs over 2000, they both should work good. My 248/254 SR in my 509 and 3.90's donest like below 2000. After that though, its perfect, probably coulda gone a little bigger, but powerbrakes would of certainly been gone.

Been on the Phone Re: These Cams to Lunati Tech and Summit; bear in mind that I’m Canadian.

For my purposes the 502A1LUN is ideal between a 9.6 to a 10.2 Static Compression depending choice of Head Gasket in a relatively light Ride, 70Z, 460 BBC MK IV, M21 to a 12 Bolt 3.08 or 3.31. Don’t Drag Race but is a daily driver with a Heavy HWY Warrior Overture ;o)

LUNATI

#1 Lunati Tech agreed with my Cam Selection and the CCA-933-16’s Springs installed at the Stock OEM Height of 1.88” is Ideal if not rather heavy for my application giving 214lbs on the Seat and 523lbs Open. When I said I’m backing the pressure with Manley Severe Duty Over Sized Valves in Cast 781 Ported Heads, Jomar Girdle, Donovan Cam Gear, Crower HIPPO’s ...etc he didn’t think the 20 lbs over was critical unless I opted to peg it with at 200/500 lbs using a .050” + Lock but I would rather use the space for Lash Caps ;o) Never let the Spring pressure fall below 170 on the seat PERIOD – Agreed.

#2 Lunati Tech informed me that they can not get Forged Billet Cam Cores with Cast Dizzy Gears; but for $30 more under PN 97020 they will treat the Billet with an “EVER-WEAR” solution – whatever that is which is compatible with the STD OEM Distributer Gear. Man that’s great $30 is a lot cheaper then Buying and Maintaining a Bronze or Composite Dizzy Gear but Consider the latest GM Metal-Orggie Dizzy Gear: whatever, Lunati’s $30 solution is definitely cheaper ;o)

#3 He advised me they have 2 Exhaust Lobe Grinds for these cams; for instance, the 502A1LUN 290 - 255 @ .050" .630" can be had with 285 - 250 @ .050" .630" which would increase Torque and work with lower compression engines - Say 9:1 Static - NICE.

#4 Lunati Tech informs me that they can ONLY Ship FEDEX or UPS and I HUNG UP. OK I wasn’t that Rude but I informed him what Canadians have to deal with: Say I purchase a $300 BBC SR Cam from an American Co. It doesn’t matter if the product was made in TimBuckToo; plus, shipping $60, Currency Exchange makes it $394, add “BROKERAGE” (Charges that both FEDEX and UPS charges at approx 1/3 % of Item Cost in CDN $’s ) = $109 CDN add 15% GST + PST Sales tax to $330 = $49.50. The TOTAL in CDN Dollars for a $300 American Item which very well may have been made in Canada and shipped back to Canada is: $552.50. If FEDEX and UPS are NOT “CROOKS” then who is. Our Union Backed USPS and Canada Post can ship the same Parcel Internationally for ½ the Costs. Why are Co.'s Specifically contracted to use FEDEX or UPS, makes you wonder about the corruption we have today?

SUMMIT:

#1 Continuing this conversation with Summit the Rep Stated that they can Deal with Lunati Options as long as they know the PN and Grind Info and will Ship USPS International Expedited Flat Rate, 1st Class, Priority or Air Mail – Thank You Summit for respect to Unions and Free Trade.
