My 1970 chevelle was left in bare metal for 6 months, it hasnt rusted much but there is some rust forming. is there any primer you can spray over this rust to stop it, or do i have to remove all of it?
Mike. Your best bet is to remove it. Eastwood has a very nice Rust inhibitor paint. I used it on my frame (after removing as much rust as humanly possible). Thinned with regular thinner and sprayed. Coverage and flow out was great. You can also prime and paint over it.
I don't know if I'd use it on the outer body though.
Best option is to sand and use navel jelly. Then rinse and prime.
