Went back thru your archives and did not see this topic covered. Apologize if it was. Both of my back-up lights are not working. When tranny is placed in reverse there is no power at the back-up light sockets. Where is the switch located to actuate the lights? Any problem areas where this usually occurs? Any help is appreciated.

does your column move when you put it in reverse? the switch is inside car lower column, linkage from shifter moves column to turn on b/u lights. linkage was thrown away with header or hurst shifter instalation when these cars were new

A couple of guys added another switch on the shifter to control the back-up lights. Maybe they will show up with a thought.

Why was there a connection betw. the manual tranny and the steering column? Was this some sort of safety feature? By the way, I do have a hurst shifter which may be why I don't have the linkage mentioned earlier.

the linkage locks the shifter in reverse when the column is locked. you can buy a complete backdrive (thats what the linkage is called) assembly from most parts venders
