Have you tried contacting their support at https://sfree.avg.com/us-en/support with specifics like OS, RAM, exact error message, etc.? Probably have better luck there than here. Personally I switched to MS Security Essentials, it's free as well and seems to catch as many bugs and AVG and Avast did - plus I don't have to 'renew' it every year and it's not as intrusive.

You might want to try running the AVG in safe mode and see if it'll run.
Occasionally ,a virus will stop the functions of an AV product.

If you still want to remove AVG , download and run Revo Uninstaller.
It removes everything associated with the program your removing -if you follow the directions ;)

you might have some kind of mal-ware that avg did not catch, and has been hijacked. happened to my uncle, i had to wipe his operating system. even going back through 8 months of system recovery did not work. AVG has gone very commericalized. If you ware running windows, try Microsoft Security Essentials, free product and very good.
