I'm not talking about if a car got wrecked or stolen, that's why we have insurance. I mean, if your car is worth a lot of money that could be used somewhere else. What number comes to mind? My wife has a 1977 Bronco, and the value on these things has skyrocketed in the last few years. If we could get 100K for this thing, I'm thinking we cash out and do something else with the money. Although it is a very cool truck that gets a ton of attention, it's really not fun to drive at all. Hot, loud and bouncy, also terrible on fuel and sketchy at speed. I much prefer driving the Beaumont.

If someone offered me 60k for my non ss chevelle I might would think about it. 80k, it’s more than likely gone, 90k+, I will deliver it to just about anywhere in the continental US. That being said, that would be if it were all put together which it’s not right now. Also, even put together, I probably would be doing good to get 40k. I really hope I don’t ever have to sell it.

I have a friend who lives in a major city who can't feel comfortable leaving his all original numbers matching 62 Corvette out in public. I feel bad for him, but I understand. It's been in the family since new and can't be replaced.

Maybe I'll get lucky and something I own will become super popular by accident, but otherwise, nothing I can afford will ever be that desirable.

From your description I highlighted, it sounds to me like it is not exactly your favorite vehicle. The market is very high right now, given what you posted, my advice would be to take advantage of it while you can, especially if you can get $100K for it.

If you think it’s time to sell the Bronco then do it. But too valuable to drive??? Isn’t that what it was made for.
I once met a guy that had a 1911 Mercury. He said there were only 3 in the world. He wouldnt let strangers drive it but he sure did. There is no such thing as too valuable to drive.

sort of like the post I made the other day about throwing a high number out when asked if its for sale. I think my number is 20k on my 66 but it's not advertised, I drive it when I can on the weekends. Don't need the money, I'm just too jammed for space. jim

I will continue to keep my Chevelle maintained and nice but I am also keeping it as a driver. Sometime I will replace the trunk pans, patch areas, but I doubt it will ever see a frame-off in my hands. I'm sure some may say it is already too nice to take out except on a Sunday to get ice cream. I own this car for sentimental reasons: as a replacement for stupidly getting rid of my old one back in 87'. I justified the purchase because it was close to the specs of my old car and if I waited, and found one 10 years later, it would probably be $10K more. If I sold this car, it would need to be for an emergency and not for a slight profit.

I have a friend who is really into 4th gen Mustangs. He has owned a Mach 1 and a Cobra. Both were built to the hilt by him, and once they were "finished", he rarely drove them. I did not see the purpose.

My car will never be to valuable to drive. I put it together to drive.
If I can’t drive it everyday to anywhere, then it’s gone.
I agree 100 percent! Understand parking in bad weather but when the opportunity is there, the cars are out of the garage. I have a friend with vehicles that make his garage look good but only come out for shows. I understand why, his paint work is worth more than my house. He doesn't understand how I can drive my vehicles and not give it a second thought. Each to his own!

At some point, there are just better things you can do with your money, right? And that point is different for everybody. I'm a finance guy by trade, which can be a curse. If I were sitting on a car worth $100,000, all I see is the $8,000 per year I could earn with that money invested in the markets, plus insurance, storage, etc. I could afford it, but it's just not smart, at least for me.

I like to drive my cars. The sweet spot for me is something in the $20,000 - $30,000 range. Eventually that will push me out of classic 60's/70's muscle cars and into a Corvette, Camaro, or Mustang from the late 90/s/early 2000's. And I'm fine with that.

If I spend money on a car, its getting driven. I don't care how much. If I bought a 600K car, it would be on the street. I will not waste my money on a car that will sit because its too pretty. Especially if its sitting and I can make money on it.

I have always built my cars to drive. I have 3,000 miles on it this summer. (Michigan) one of the reasons I chose my LS. Gets 20+ mpg, stops great with 4WDB. I'm looking at adding A/C next.

I love driving this thing. I'd have more miles on it but work gets in the way.

I guess "too expensive to drive" may not be the right wording. After all, cars are meant to be driven. Remember the guy that drove his 1971 Hemi Cuda across the country? I would be the same way if money was no object. It just seems that the market is hot on these Bronco's right now and it may be the time to cash in. We've been looking at moving and 100k is a pretty big chunk of change to add to our down payment.
