What is everyone using for engine assembly lube? It seems that every company has it own unique formula these days. Just curious if one is any better than the others. Thanks in advance

Its been several years... I use generally the Sta-lube "Assembly" lubricant for most stuff. Oil on the rings. I "Used" to use the cam sauce long ago, but reading about the ZZDP and stuff, I am researching on that. On stock rod bolts, oil, ARPs=their stuff and torque. On Pontiac headbolts, oil on the threads (even though the holes are "blind"). I use sealant on SBC and BBC headbolt holes. There is more I have forgotten...

My wife always says 'A little lube never hurt". But she is young (46) so we haven't gotten to that point.

Engines? I use two products. Lucas Engine Oil Stabalizer on the bearings and cam journals and good old fashioned 10W30 on the rings. I have a quart of Lucas that I opened two years ago and have done at least 25 service overhauls and ten performance builds. Just wear gloves. It doesnt come off skin too easy..

Royal Purple Max Tuff assembly lube for bearings and a light coating over cam (Hyd Roller) along with CMD Extreme Pressure #3 for threads on studs, washers and under head bolts. Brad Penn oil for rings and light coating of ATF on cylinder walls.

2-stroke oil (ashless, doesn't foul plugs) on rings, cyl walls, & valve guides; motor oil or ATF on bearings & lifter bores; white lithium (just a thin smear) on rockers, push rods, roller cam lobes, dist gears, and the like; soak rocker trunnions in motor oil; whatever the cam mfr recommends on flat-tappet lobes

the red stuff that they have at every parts store for a few bucks- i think it's a Permatex product.. it goes on the bearings, cam, lifters, pushrods, and rocker arms.. cylinder walls get wiped down with a little oil...

I have always cleaned the bores with white rags and brake clean then a light coat of oil. I always assembled my motors with
- 50/50 STP and 10w/30 Kendall Green oil( Brad Penn)
-Molly paste on cam and lifters
-prime pump with stp
Thanks for the opinions I am going to look at a couple of these products
