As if life hasn't been throwing enough curveballs my way over the last year, yesterday, I arrive home from work (after a 1.5 hour drive, thanks to the Eagles) and my neighbor is flagging me down in the street.
"How was your day?" he asks. "Okay, WHY" says I.
"My wife just took yours to the hospital, because Mathew (my middle kid, 13) got hit by a car, hit and run."
He's OK, it barely got him. Basically, the mirror got him in the back, and threw him down where he scraped his leg up. He says it was a Grand Prix like my wife's old one (friggin Pontiacs). On those, the mirrors don't fold.
Anyways, it could have been a ton worse, and of course, thanks to the Hit and run mentality, Matt had to walk almost back home (he was about a half mile away, going to pick up rolls for dinner) before he got to one of his friend's house to call 911. He said 2 or 3 cars drove by while he was laying on the ground after he got hit. Again, thankfully, no broken bones, just some bruises and scrapes.
Thanks. I love my neighborhood.
Anyways, I got home around 7.30, it all happened around 6.30 while I was on my way home, thank the good Lord that keeps me from having a cell phone. The rest of the drive would have been h-e- double hockey sticks if I had known about all of it. We didn't get home to eat till almost midnight.
It's just frustrating on top of all the other crap going on.
Thanks for letting me vent, guys.
