Work is a lot of stress. Still trying to finalize Mom's estate, more stress. The Mother In Law is being an idiot which is more stress. Last night the little dog, Louise, she's a Lhasa, started having the runny poops. I was up three times to let her out, hardly got any sleep. She's eating and playful and bouncy, but she has the runny poops a lot. She barfed a bit this morning, just bile, not her breakfast. Her last poop accident looked to be slightly bloody. Sheesh.

She has an appointment with the vet this afternoon. Hope it is nothing serious but at 13, every health issue is serious and this ain't just the sniffles. If this is life threatening, my wife will be utterly devestated (on top of everything else we have stressing us, she is unemployed and still looking for work).

If you have any positive karma lying around, please send it out for a little dog named Louise.

Kharma good coming your way. I have a Moose of a dog but my babies are my bookend Shih-Tzus. They are my freinds, my greeters, my goofballs.

But dogs SUCK! They are only with us for a limited time. I hope she does well. But to let you know, 13 is not that old for a Lhasa. I hope she feels better

Vet says there is nothing to be immediately alarmed about but she has lost a pound since her last visit. The weight loss seems concerning to me. BUT, she gets a boost in food volumes for a while so that should make her happy. They are doing a fecal test, we'll know in a day or so what that shows. If she's not better by the end of the week, she needs to go back in for more tests.

Sounds like she may have ringworms or roundworms. Keep positive, Rich. I hope she is alright as well. Keep us updated. Take care bud!

Our little (also 13) Schnauzer had those symptoms and was very ill acting. After several $100's worth of tests, X rays, etc., the initial diagnosis was Pancreatitis and was treated with drugs (3 times) but he would get well then a few days later be sick again. Then after an Ultrasound ($360) the diagnosis was Inflammatory Bowel Disease. It never goes away but is being treated with a prescription venison and potato dog food ($$). He's doing great now.

It sucks when a pet gets sick....they are like family. My cat Roscoe is my best friend...we have had him since he was a kitten. .last thanksgiving he got to where he could not urinate...this is common for male cats and is fatal if not treated. To the vet ER we went...$3100 later he was fixed up but while he was there they discovered he has a progressive disease of the heart called feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy . Life expectancy under 5 years average is two. He is 4 yrs old. Total spent on him so far is over 4k .

Hope everything turns out good. Got to take care of our little buddies. Mine walked for the first time since back surgery last week. Peed on his own today also. I'm up to $10k but he's worth it

Wow, sorry to hear about that. I know I haven't seen you post a whole lot around here and figured you were still quite busy with the estate issues, but sounds like you really have your plate full.

One thing I have learned from my parents "little one" is teeth health make a big difference in anal gland issues and overall health.

Hope all turns out well.

Poop is solid and the proper color today. I must really love my dog since I was eagerly following her around the backyard this morning with a flashlight to check out the consistancy and color of her poop!

Now we just need to put a little weight back onto her. Canned food treats on top of each kibble meal to the rescue!

Hope to get the poop analysis results back today.

Good luck Rich, we just went thru the same thing with our 3 year old Sheppard.

$400 and a day spent at the vets. Drugs for a week, and everything "cleared up" I hate being the poop analyzer.

All the best, Daren

Whenever one of our hounds have the runs we give them a 50/50 mix of dry food and plain cooked white rice. Usually solves the problem. My wife is a Vet. Tech at a veterinary teaching college and this is an old doggie home remedy for doggie tummy problems. Dogs love rice for some reason.

We do plain rice and boiled chicken, or tuna in water. When they start to turn around, we start introducing kibble a little bit at a time. It's worked well for us.

We do the rice thing and will supplement it with a bit of boiled chicken to add some protein but the blood in the stool really scared us so we skipped ahead to the vet visit. The visit was "only" $85 and will hopefully be the only visit we need.

you can also use "libbys pumpkin pie mix" when my golden had problems, Ill give him rice and if that doesn't work 2 table sppons of the pumpkin. The pumpkin helps for both constipation or the dreaded "explosions". It works great and every time. For 0.69 you cant beat it. For a little dog, I would do a tablespoon with food. Good luck
