I'm deciding between 17's and 18's for my 70ChevelleConv and my buddy cautioned me about 18's perhaps being a pretty hard ride. The would have less sidewall than the 17's. He also thought having the same tires all around would be beneficial; rotation; tirewear, etc..

The wheels don't make any difference. It's the profile of the tire that makes the difference. The lower the profile the shorter the sidewall and harsher the ride.

The disadvantage to 18s is that you need to run a pretty short sidewall in front to get the stance low enough to look good.

The shorter sidewall will result in a slightly harsher ride.
