Investigating options for a power upgrade to my 70 Malibu. The car is already fitted with C5 brakes all around, but I retained the manual brake setup (just with a 15/16" manual master).

I understand there are aftermarket 9" dual diaphragm boosters (example Tuff Stuff 2229NC), but the C5 booster seems to be the same size essentially.

If anyone has adapted one of these C5 boosters, I'd love to know the details.

Sounds like a resounding NO. I ask because the C5 and C6 boosters (9" dual diaphragm) look amazingly like the aftermarket 9" from TUFF stuff performance, #2229 NC, which was recommended by Tobin at KORE3 for my C5 brakes on the 70 Malibu.

Exception - the C5/C6 comes with quite the lengthly actuation rod. The 2229NC comes with a diaphragm rod length of 4.12 inch...... male stud. The only way it would work is if the long actuation rod was removed and shorted to suit.
