I have an oppiutunity to get a 200-r4 overdrive for my favorite four letter word that starts with an f, thats free
has anyone used one?
read in a magazine that they were a good piece
any input would be appreciated

I think the 200-4Rt is a well keep secret. I use one, and yes they can build them to take the HP. I would say get the transmission, but why a F--d?

you may want to try using a "Super Servo " for more 2nd gear performance . Or use a Buick Grand National servo from your local GM dealer .

Hi Racer70, you can't beat that price!
I have a 200-R4 in my 86 Monte SS and these SS's just love the 4th gear(overdrive).
Around town I usually leave it DRIVE (3rd)
and when I hit the hi-way on ramp and flow into traffic or hit an opening, I exellerate
to (maximum speed limit of course) and shift it out of 3rd to 4th and the rev's drop to a comfortable RPM hi-way cruising.My 3.73 gear ratio turns into a 2.49 in OD.

P.S. My 86 SS is bone stock and the shift's
aren't harsh but it let's you know that a
1-2 took place with a bit of a "chirp" when
"hammered", a shift kit is in the work's!
These SS's came from the factory with recallibrated performance chip's. Compared to
my brother's 84 Hurst Old's his 200-R4 has
definitely firmer shift's and can "chirp"
1-2 with ease compared to mine, so Oldmobile
has done some more to it than Chevy has. Keep
in mind that I have posi he does'nt and their
both factory stock.
