Except for small specialty items, I use Nason basecoat exclusively. I don't particularly like the clearcoat, but I did 2/3rds of my Elky with the clearcoat and it has held up well. Sands and buffs nicely and coverage and colormatch are as good as the high dollar stuff. I've never had an unacceptable color match and that includes Corvettes, Lincolns and other nit-picky stuff.

Ordinarily, I use Transtar clear over the Nason basecoat or on some higher end stuff I use DuPont ChromaClear.

I don't like the Nason single stage.

I used Nason BC/CC (1994 Blue Pearl) on my 69 about 5 years ago had excellent results. It's actually the same quality as Dupont automotive paints. Here's the answer I got from a Dupont retailer when I asked about the difference; "Nason is so much cheaper than Dupont because it is not OEM color matched for spot/partial repairs, it is made mainly for overall paint jobs or spot repairs on cars previously painted with Nason."

Good info, I was Leary because of the price but if it's good quality and I will be happy with it I'm game to try it. I want to have it painted one time and be done...and not have regrets...I'm also building on a budget so Nason seems to fit the bill with me

This is my car painted with Nason basecoat and Dupont Clear. The final color I settled on wasn't my first choice, but I am pretty happy with it.

If I had to do it over again, I think I would go with Nason Clear also. We did some of the bottom of the panels in Nason clear, and there was no difference between that and the Dupont clear. The price difference is HUGE though....
