I saw on True Connnections web site a grill kit for 66 Chevelle for $409.00.
My question is this.
Has anyone tried one of these kits from True Connnections and how was the quality?
Thanks in advance for any feedback. I have purchased from TC before and was very pleased with service, I'm just wondering about the quality and fit of their grill kit.

I use to work for them, and now work for them part time. The last guy has it right, Repo is Repo. For the most part, everybody gets thier stuff from the same place. I know on a couple of the pieces, there are a few manufactures(as far as the grill kit items), and we pretty much have tried them all, and went with the best ones. Still not as good as the originals though. Good luck!

For the most part (99% really) I totally agree. But, I do have one experience where the repop stuff was not the same. I ordered drip rail mouldings for my 67 from vendor A, received them and after inspection determined that the front curve was in fact not curved at all. Sent them back to vendor A after calling and being told "we all get it from the same factory in China". So, I tested this and called vendor B. I asked them to retrieve a drip rail moulding, lay it on a copy machine and fax me a rudimentary profile of the area in question. They did so, I received the fax and determined that the piece vendor B had was not the same as the one vendor A had. After I received the drip rail from vendor B, we fit it on the car and it was perfect.

I called back to vendor B for most of the remaining parts I needed, and called the same salesman to get the parts in hand and we'd go over the areas I knew were critical for fitment and/or workability. Sometimes I found parts that worked, and sometimes they had the exact repop part the others had.

So would you care to share with us who is Vendor B?

A good experience like that is worth sharing who!

I got my grill kit for my '70 from True Connections and everything fit great.I'm sure it's not as good as original, but i'm very satisfied.I live in va. and it was cheaper to buy from them with shipping than anyone else.I also got a core support and fender extensions, all fit good.

Off the subject a little but, with all the swap meet stuff and ebay there is a lot of trim (original)out there for 66s. I bought a book on restoring auto trim and found out that a little work on the dings and scraps wasnt that hard to fix.

Sure it would be A LOT QUICKER but it was something that I wanted to teach myself.

bob_adamsky.......could you tell me the name of the book you like on restoring trim? I've thought it was possible to restore trim dings and such if I could read up on the techniques.......
