just picked up a wieand wcv327 dual quad intake. just for nostalgia sake, thinking of putting it on my 68 327 maybe a pair of 500 eddys or carters. Is this a good idea? driveablity wise? thanks! basic motor I believe its a flat top 327, fuelie heads, maybe has a mild cam. headers and 327 gears. thanks!

That is a very good intake, similar to the edelbrock. If you get the 500 carbs dialed in it will work fine with progressive linkage. I would use the rear carb as your main carb using the stock jets and metering rods as a starting point. The front carb may have to be jetted down a bit. I have been running dual 600 cfm edel. carbs on a 455 Pontiac motor and have the progressive linkage set up so that my front carb does not really start opening until just before my secondaries open up on the rear carb. The front carb is leaned out although the idle circuit is left stock. Not sure if the very good Edel. progressive linkage kit will work on your set up as the wcv intake has wider carb spacing. I have this same wcv 327 intake and fabricated my own progressive linkage but currently do not have a small block to run it on. Suggest you get an edelbrock manual that comes with their carbs and follow some of their charts showing various jet and rod combos. Get used to tearing into the carbs, fairly simple, and changing rods and jets until you get the right combo. On my Pontiac 455 I have had the carbs apart to do jet changes at least 10 times for each carb and just recently built a lower c.r. 455 motor and that changed my carb settings so had to go leaner on everything!! Back in the day I ran dual fours on my 327 in a 57 Chevy and most of the time ran with the front carb linkage detached so only the idle circuit was operating and only hooked it back up when I was going to race someone. No problems at all with just running the rear carb as some people will tell you. Tuned properly your set up will run just fine although in a drag race a single 750 cfm carb will probably run quicker. The site of a dual four set up and and the sound of an 097 Duntov solid lifter cam in a 327 is a great thing!!

thanks for the tip. I posted a want ad on craigslist for a couple carbs, and theres a swap meet in two weeks. So Im going to start keeping my eye out for the carbs. Ive got a 600 and a 750 eddy, but Im not sure what the mismatch would do? maybe 750 in the back and run on it, use the 600 up front when I need to get into it? Jim
