Does anyone know of places that rework your old chrome headlight bezels, grill chrome, outside trim, rear panel trim of 66 Chevelle?

I finnally broke down and ordered all new grill kit & rear chrome for my 66 the other week and I went to test fit it this morning and nothing fits for flip! Very dissapointing!

So I'm thinking of sending it back and trying to get my old chrome what I have redone and search for OEM pieces that I need.

Well,

First, none of the trim is "chrome"... Its mostly anodized aluminum (and no where near as shiny or "deep" as chrome...

There should be local guys around that will repolish it, maybe try some local "street rod" shops or "restoration" shops for references...

There are ways to remove the anodizing, and once thats off, its easy to repolish... If going 100% resto, then it needs to be reanodized (Brite-dip anodizing?)... Maybe search internet for Brite Dip...

I polished my El Camino grill, and it looked greta for several years until I sold it... Shinier than factory...

I've used a guy in WI to reanodize some aluminum trim on my 70. He does very nice work. Butch's Auto Trim in Muskego, WI 414-679-4883 or 414-662-9910. If the numbers don't work, you may have to use 262 as the area code instead. I think its changed since I lived there.

Hate to keep beating a dead horse but,
I just went out to the garage to test fit my corvex rocker moldings. They are about 1.5 inches too short on lenght.
Is all this stuff junk!?

Pretty much ........ if you cant find NOS for reasonable price and your original stuff in not too bad shape ....... definitely go the polish and reanodize route .just got my grille and headlite buckets back from Pro Polish in Tennesee .excellent job .no repo on exterior trim on my 66 either NOS or repolished original FWIW

My favorite place to have chrome and aluminum done is JT's classic chrome. They are show quality-no sanding scratches like most other guy's and the repop stuff. And they are really reasonable on the price. If I could only find the phone number.

Hmmm, I need to check, I thought the trim was stainless. I guess the fact that it is so light would point to it being alum. I was just going to polish it with mothers and go. Sounds like I must re-think the whole thing.
