Hey guys...
My 69 Camaro came with 396 that supposedly came from 325 or 350hp Chevelle. Where do I find all the pertinent numbers from the block and heads to post them here? It would be neat to be able to reunite the engine with the car if this engine is actually from a big block Chevelle.
The front engine pad #'s are TO122JA and the #'s above the oil filter (I think this is the VIN) are 19K392400. I'm not sure that the third stamp is a "K" because its very light and hard to read. The engine is cast with "HI PERF PASS" in several different areas. Also, can you tell the date of the motor based on these numbers or do I need to find the date stamp?
I also have a TH400 that came with the Camaro, but I'm not sure if it came from the same car (Chevelle?) that the motor came from. Let me know where to check the trans for the appropriate numbers and I'll post those as well.
Is there a database that you guys can refer to in order to see if the car is still out there? If I can find the owner of the car I would just as soon sell him the motor and build a different one.
Thanks,
Cowboybob
By the way...if there is a better forum for this post, let me know or have the moderator move as needed.
