Great Article On The Mopar I Would Think The Chevelle Also Had Some Of Those Tricks Rear Bumper Poured Lead In Side, Acid Dipped Ports Even In Early Days, Gas Tank Half Full Of Lead There Were So Many Tricks, HOW About E/SA Chevelle Moved WHOLE Body Back On Frame 1 Inch ALL BODY PARTS ACIDED Car Ran At The Pa Tracks For Many Years WONDER HOW THOSE CARS WOULD RATE TODAY WITH 69 CAMARO IN THE SS/EA CLASS, MOPAR HAS BEEN ABLE TO DO MOST ANYTHING THEY WANT DUE TO THE LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY PUT IN BY THE CORPORATION

What`s with the CAPS on every word ? believe it or not... it would be easier to read your posts if you didn`t do that.

Hi All,
I was on Google and in the search bar taped photos and typed in 70 Chevelle SS. Man they have a lot of photos there of the 70 there. Mopars I myself like the Super Bee 69 those graphics Bee and rear stripe are great. But hands down Im Bowtie. Just image if back then the Chevelle in photo would have have a stroker BBC the bird would have been eaten alive. Would have been nice if Jungle Jim had run a Chevelle. Would like to see photo of that 70 now. I am sure someone has it and its running. Thanks all for the story and specs behind it on the 70.

That Truppi-Kling, Briggs Chevelle had many tricks done to it to perform like it did. Today it would run in the 9's with current technology.

Thanks for all the comments on my web pages.

That's the Chevelle that sold at BJ in January for $1,248,000!
To expand on this information it was sold at one of the Big auctions. It brought 1.150 million dollars plus an eight percent fee from the auction company bringing the total to $1,242,000 from what i heard. I think it was a Barrett-Jackson event. They must have wanted it pretty bad, huh? I just read about a '54 Oldsmobile called an F-88 that was a show car done in a gold color that brought over 3 million dollars.

Truppi-Kling is an engine builder in the northeast U.S., Briggs Chevrolet sponsored the car and Ray Allen was the driver. Just for comparisons sake it would take about 9.6s now to be competitive in the class the convertible falls into.

Might be a dumb question ? They ran in Ontario in November ? Is this Canada ? For $1,000,000 I could have a bunch of really sweet rides and a really nice place to keep them too ! I'm glad someone wants to save that sort of car though.

No its not Canada. Ontario, California is near Pomona. The Ontario Motor Speedway was brand new in 1970. They also had a Super Speedway for Indy cars and Winston Cup I believe. From pics I've seen, the Drag Strip was actually part of pit road of the Super Speedway. The T/K Chevelle won the Hot Wheels NHRA Supernationals here in Nov 1970.
Ontario Motor Speedway has been closed for some time now. More than likely a strip mall or housing development takes its place. Maybe someone from Calif can fill us in?
