The reason I ask is that is what they told me I have been having them over the past year.

Last night I got up for my midnight migration to the bathroom and when I got half way there I hit the floor. I have never felt that bad in years. The symptoms passed quickly but I still went to the ER. Scared the crap out of me!(almost:D) They let me go at 7:30 this morning saying I was fine but need to follow up with my Family Doctor. They said they believe I am having and have been having mini strokes over the last year from things I had told them. They said my family doctor should have caught it if I was telling him about the on and off problems I have been having.(blurred vision in one eye, loss of coodination in my hand and arm dizzyness and headaches, numbness in my face and chin are some but never really that bad or that often. I figured symtoms some of the meds I take and the transition from being sedintary to suddenly active doing things around the hose and on the Elky!

I was just curious if anyone else has had this problem or knew anything about it!:)

TIA, I've read is often undiagnosed by doctors. How is your blood pressure? Have you taken it in different positions?Standing up,sitting, and laying down,if different because of circulation. The TIA are an early sign at times of oncoming stroke or CVA.

It might be worth checking to find out if your carotid arteries are beginning to plug up. There is a test available (but may not be covered by ins.) to check it out. My M-I-L had a series of mini's and then a larger one. Found out after the fact that one of her carotids was 97% blocked. Too late for surgery now. Not trying to scare you...rather trying to warn you. I'm certainly no doc..... Good luck, in any case!

Had all that checked a little over a year ago when they put me in the hospital for chest pain. Checked everywhere for blockages and was told my arteries all looked really good and clear. My family doctor had me come in to his office just after 1:00 today and said he looked at the reports and don't think it is anything to worry about.
Monday I am making an appointment with my wife's cardiologist just to make doubly sure!

I'd be finding another family doctor right away. You can buy blood pressure machines so that you can keep track of your own blood pressure. I know a lady who had a TIA just a while back and her blood pressure turned out to be 235 over 130. Pretty hard to feel sorry for someone who spends all their money on cigarettes then can't afford the blood pressure pills they need. It is my understanding that TIAs don't generally have any lasting effect, unlike a full blown stroke.

Very good thing to do. You need a specialist's opinion for sure!

My father in law had them for about 15 years before he finally passed in his late 80's. He was cool about it said they usually happened at night and he would just wake up with something not feeling right or working. He had really bad heart problems, luckily his wife's brother was a world class heart guy. At his funeral he took us aside and said that John had not wanted anyone except for his wife to know how bad he had been, they had been doing all sort of experimental stuff (with his permission) that probably gave him 10 more years than the average person would have gotten with his condition. Finally everything just broke down at once.

Sound like you need to start seeing a specialist rather than the family doctor. Good luck Patrick

TIA = transient ischemic attack for those who were wondering (medical jargon for mini-stroke) - has to do with interrupted bloodflow.
