I am looking to begin my rebuild on my 396 for my 68 SS 396:beers:. I plan on having the heads ported (oval port) and larger valves installed. The motor will be a stroked 396 (scat combo). Anyone want to share the name of a great shop that does the work well, is reasonable and in So. Cal. ? All referrals are appreciated. Rob

For machining take it to Engine Dynamics off of Heintz St in Baldwin Park. Rod Phillips is well known for his work and does a fantastic job.

For head porting you get what you pay for. Rick King Speed Engineering knows what he is doing. He is a bit expensive, but if you want it done right, he is the person to go to.
Here are some boats he has done....btw...the yellow/red flatty, and black hydro (N/A and Blown motor) is my dads old boat. you can contact him on that forum.
