I will soon ;-)
My engine builder had a set on his Hemi Charger and another set under the snow which I could borrow :)

They didn´t look insanely wide, but still, would love to see a pic on a Chevelle for more "real life comparison" !

Dats where mine is. However, I don't suggest you do this to any Chevelle.....

Well steve, I think that´s already to late for mine :D

At least your car were done right, the previous owner of mine just cut it straight..

I think your car looks great !
It does bring up a bunch questions though, as mine is a mix of 64/65 , assuming those are N50-15 tires, what brand are they as I see they vary some in thread size and overall width ?
And were you able to fit them without moving the frame in ? If so, how much clearance do you have on the inside ?
What wheel are you running, 15x10" ? And if you know, what backspacing ?

I`ll be moving the frame in on mine, just enough to fit a 325/50-15 tire on a 10" wheel, but for (believe it or not) inspection I need to fit a N50-15 tire first.

Not the best pic...but this is My 67 ragtop from 1980. 15x10 cragars w/N5015's and 15x7 w/G6015's

Thanks for posting up the picture ! Looks mean and old school, I love it :beers:

Do you remember how much clearance you had left on the inside, tire to frame ? It looks like the tire is out one inch or so. from the top of wheel well, a little more down low ?

Remi...The tires are Pro-Trac probably Corker remakes. The frame is not cut. The back space is 3 1/2". Wheels are 15 X 10 Outlaw II.

I bought the car already "radiused". I've been working with the Old School Gasser look. That gets all the old parts out of the garage and functioning. I'm going to put 4 1/2" BS Wheel Vintiques Series 03's on the back. With the wheel like that, it looks to need a spacer to clear an existing 2 1/2" tailpipe, but just towards the end of the tires.

Your 64 is good looking, also.....

Great pics 68Chevelle396 !! First set of pictures who actually gave me a good impression on how wide those tires actually are !

Did you have any clearance left on the inside ?
I`ll be trying a 10" wheel and that tire on my 65, quarters are cut open so I have a little more room then stock. (I didn´t do it, but hey, once it´s done I might as well fill it out right ?? :)

Think I can make a 5" backspacing fit. Also going for a minitub and move the frame in, to fit the N50-15 tire and to get a 325/50-15 tire in there too, which is what I´ll be running. Think with frame in 2" I´ll have enough clearance.

If you cut your rear openings you can do this. This is a 1980 Grand Prix Fender lip. The photos here are a 295-50-15 (the Avons are really about a 305) on a 10 inch rim but can do a 325 also. The old N-50 are about 325s by todays standards. This was done way back in 1983 but you think it was OEM - well it is 1980 Grand Prix OEM.
